The people who had disappeared didn't leave behind any ghosts. And then the spirits from before became less and less because, well, the local death rate slowed when there were fewer people to die. Besides, Harper was pretty sure that most people were happy to leave their current existence behind with things the way they were. For Harper, it was as if someone had pressed a mute button on her life. Her hectic, upside down world was suddenly empty. Ironically enough, if was bereft of the life it once had.
That had been hard.
Losing Stephen Strange had been harder.
She'd waiting for weeks inside the Sanctum, but he never returned.
For five years Harper closed herself off from the world more than ever. She cute herself off from the few people she knew who still existed. She went to work, performed her perfunctory duties, and went home. She didn't even bother with late nights in clubs and one night stands like she might have once upon a time. Losing Strange was one loss too many for a girl who had been abandoned her whole life.
In the end, it was the cats outside, in the ally behind the store. She heard the clatter of a trash can, and upon inspection found a whole pack of them digging for food in the bin. Before, maybe she'd see one stalking along the streets, but never so many at once. Not since...
Harper's hands trembled, and her heart raced as she ran to the front of the store. The streets were filled with confused people with wide eyes. People who hadn't been there in five years.
She'd finished her shift, gone home and buried herself in bed. As the hours ticked by she could hear the celebrations all around, but she wanted none of it. She couldn't dare to let herself celebrate - to hope. She couldn't do it anymore.

Gladly.
[Pulling back his hands moved along her body, tugging at her clothes. He resisted the urge to rip them off, instead deliberately undressing her as he enjoyed the sight of more and more naked flesh. She looked perfect, as beautiful as he remembered her. Once she was naked he moved over her and kissed her again, needy and passionate.]

She threaded her arms under his and smoothed her hands over his back. It was all muscle memory reminding her of the very best way to hold him.
When their lips parted she sighed, smiling. ]
I love you.
no subject
I love you too. I’m glad I can say it now.
[Because he’d loved her for a while now, just as sure that telling her might spook her as he was in the depth of his feelings for her. He’d tried to show her before, just as how his hands moving along her body showed her, but he’d never been able to risk saying it.
Humming happily he bit and sucked at her neck before reaching down between them. Taking his cock he teased her opening just a bit with his head before slowly pushing in with a groan.]

Oh, fuck. [ She gripped at his shoulders and buried her face against his neck. ] It feels so good, Stephen. Just like I remembered.
no subject
You feel incredible. Always.
[The words were murmured against her neck as he rocked forward. It may not have been a long time for him but she was still exquisite to be inside of, still felt so perfect in a way that made him complete. Pulling almost all the way out of her he gave several small, shallow thrusts before pressing himself deep inside of her again.
It was addicting, this level of intimacy with her. Prior to this their most intimate moments had been sexual so this was the language he was used to using to tell her how much she meant to him. How much he cared for her. How happy he wanted to make her.]

She held one arm over Strange's back. Her other hand she held at the back of his head, fingers burying into his hair.
She gasped and moaned while she rolled her hips to match Strange's thrusts. ]

[There was a sort of desperation to their movements, as if they needed to capture their pleasure to mark the moment. He could feel her giving herself to him fully even as he rocked against her. Inside of her he felt so tight and complete, each motion almost painfully intense as he drew partially out of her and then thrust back inside.]
All of me, you have all of me. Every bit of me is yours, Harper. For forever.
[He leaned down, pressing his forehead to hers as he rocked in and out of her more and more, picking up the pace as he felt that familiar ache inside of him.]

She gasped, a sob caught in her throat as Strange drew his face close to hers. No matter how good sex had ever been before, this was on an entirely different level. Neither of them were hiding or denying their feelings for the other, and Harper could feel it in every move.
She met his thrusts with his own, ramping up the growing heat inside of her. ]
Mine. [ She met his gaze, intense and familiar. ] You're mine, and I'm yours.

Harper...
[He growled her name, starting to pick up the pace as well, working in a rhythm that they could get into so easily. Maybe it was all the sex or something more but the'd always been able to read each other so well. Yes they were vocal about what they wanted but that was hardly necessary.]
Fuck... fuck yes, I need you...
no subject
She gasped and moaned with every thrust as she drew closer to that inevitable end. She clung tighter still to him, fingernails biting into his skin. ]
Need you, too. Stephen. God, Stephen I need you to come inside me. Need to feel you.
no subject
Close, so close to filling you. Fuck... Harper. So good. Love you, love you so much...
[Strange was rambling now, emotions spilling over into words without really much thought, just combinations of how much he loved her, how he was hers, how he needed her, all of the things he'd been wanting to say before this but shied away from.
He drove into her over and over, rocking forward and back to grind against her even as he thrust deeply. He could feel his orgasm building higher and higher, his entire body tensing until it all exploded with pleasure as he shouted her name. His body shook and he felt himself fill her, pleasure racing through him like electricity as he cried out.]

And when he came, she cried out with relief and pleasure. Real tears spilled from her eyes as she came more brilliantly than she ever had before. She clung to him as his climax triggered her own. Her whole body shook as she whimpered his name over and over again. It was all her mind could comprehend, just Stephen, Stephen, Stephen. ]

[Everything she was saying was giving Strange chills, hearing her say things that they had hinted at before but had never been able to say, that she finally felt safe to say just came tumbling out. That, combined with a bit of the desperation for a physical release that she seemed to be feeling had made it overwhelming for him even after he had come. Holding her close he leaned forward and kissed the tears on her cheeks before nuzzling up to her ear.]
Always. I love you always, Harper. No matter what.
no subject
She couldn't stop the smile that spread on her face then, even if she had wanted to.
Harper snaked her hands up the sides of his neck to the back of his head. ]
No matter what.
no subject
Tell me again how you love me.
[He buried his face in her neck as he spoke, pressing little kisses against the skin as his body begged for more contact of some sort with her. It was never enough with Harper, he always craved more, but now he had a better understanding of it. He needed to express his love for her in every possible way and he was never going to run out of affection for her.]
no subject
I love you, Stephen. I didn't think it was possible for me to love anyone like this, but I do. I love you.
[ There was still fear - fear that something would take him away again, but she was tired of wasting time on what could happen and missing out on the present. ]
no subject
And I love you. More than anything. More than I knew it was possible to love someone.
[Strange hadn't just thought this sort of thing was unrealistic for himself but for anyone. Yes there were idiots falling over themselves all the time but he didn't think it could be real and sustainable. He was well aware of all the chemical reactions the body went through when you were in love but this was more than that.]
And I'm going to take forever to show you how much I love you, Harper.
no subject
She looked Strange in the eye and stroked at the gray hair at his temple. Forever used to feel terrifying. It only meant loneliness and heartbreak. Now though, she craved forever. Forever didn't feel like long enough anymore. ]
If it's with you, then I want forever.
no subject
[Strange smiled at her, leaning into her touch while he reached down a brushed a few stray tears at her cheeks. It wasn’t as if his resolve to protect the world wasn’t already strong but it was only made stronger by his desire to spend as much time in it with Harper. Too make sure that nothing hurt her. That wasn’t necessarily a realistic thing but it was what he felt.]
Good. Because it’s going to take at least that long for me to show you how much I love you.

It's been a day, hasn't it?
[It was a bit of an understatement and even considering everything that had happened lately (especially from his point of view) it was a hell of a day. Fortunately in the good sense. Harper especially had had enough of the bad ones to last a life time and Strange promised himself he would do his best to make sure she didn't have many more.]
no subject
That's about the understatement of the century.
[ She reached up and brushed some of the damp hair that had fallen over Strange's forehead. Smiling, a blush that's due to shyness more than exertion colors her cheeks. It's unlike her, but maybe a new aspect of who she was becoming. ]
You've set up an awfully good precedent. I hope you have the energy to live up to it. You know, since I'll be here all the time now.
no subject
[Strange smiled and pressed his forehead to hers, breathing deeply to just center himself to her, wanting nothing more than to just feel connected to her even more than they already were.]
Going to expect this all the time, are you? I suppose I could be persuaded...
no subject
[ She grinned up at him. Frankly, they both were insatiable when it came to each other. Harper thanked whatever higher power might be listening that that was still true after all that time. ]
You're not going to be able to keep your hands off of me.
